Description

This oral history is focused on Ella Sparrow and her immediate family. It talks about her life after she moved here with her husband, as she did not grow up in St. Augustine. Various topics are touched on such as appliances, electricity, if Ella remembers any things such as archaeological sites. Ella’s childhood in Alabama is also briefly touched on, such as discussing games and playmates. Overall, the oral history is how Ella remembers living life in St. Augustine in a day-to-day view; where did she shop for groceries, how things were paid for (before credit cards), how was laundry done, etc. Ella also talks about raising her children, living through memorable moments like hurricanes, and how the landscape has changed over her 57 years living here.
