Experience Learning from Home during Covid-19
Title
Experience Learning from Home during Covid-19
Subject
Schools, Pandemic
Description
An art class assignment with instructions stating, “to draw how we felt at the time.” After spring break, school was canceled for the remainder of the semester. Students did not return to campus and all classes and work moved online. Art classes were particularly negatively affected by this. The teacher had to change his requirements now that art supplies like paint were not able to be provided by the teacher. He had to make all assignments pen or pencil drawings. The art also had to be turned in through email instead of handing in physical drawings. Also, notice the rough quality of the drawing. This poor drawing would not normally be accepted when we were still in class. He was forced to lower his standards due to the pandemic. I had a bad experience of working online at first, as I was not computer savvy and struggled in harder courses like pre-calculus due to a lack of in class teacher or peer assistance. Sitting all day in front of the computer and not moving like I had before on campus from class to class made me feel sluggish. I felt like I had lost all my energy and became depressed. I drew this picture to represent my feelings at the time of working from home. Note the bags under my eyes and the lifelessness of my eyes as I stare into the computer. Notice how the computer light consumes me. Notice my unkept hair. Notice the glum environment with darkness surrounding my desk and a pile of dirty clothes.
