Description
How has Covid-19 changed your daily life?
I'm no longer able to watch my grandchildren in Jacksonville or go to my part-time job at Flagler Hospital until the virus is under better control. I miss our daughters and grandchildren; and hospital and Cathedral choir friends.
How is your neighborhood and/or social circle responding to the crisis?
I message with my choir friends to keep in touch. One just became a grandmother on Easter! The Fullerwood area is such a friendly neighborhood and an easy place to walk, talk and visit, and still maintain social distancing. I've met so many neighbors whom I knew by sight, but now I'm learning names.
How has covid impacted your perspective of St. Augustine?
It's such a beautiful city; it's nice to have the streets less crowded, although we certainly hope our favorite businesses and restaurants survive.
How has Covid-19 impacted your use of social media?
Our family Facetimes more frequently, and I look at Facebook almost every day now.
What practices have you implemented to mitigate the impact of social distancing on your mental health?
We still have projects to finish after being flooded by both Hurricanes Matthew and Irma that have kept my husband (mostly) busy outside. My mental health practice has always been to work in the yard and garden. Being able to be outside during this beautiful spring has saved our sanity! I addition to walking and working outside, we both are reading more and playing music (he's teaching me mandolin).
